Fury(2014)

It’s a bit too ambitious of me to 'critic' Fury as my first review, but I just watched it so, might as well.

In general, it was a really great movie. Everyone was neatly in character, and everything fell in place so well that one could almost feel the characters' emotions themselves.

So it takes place in Germany, April 1945, and shows the story of a tank crew in war. Brad Pitt plays Don 'Wardaddy' Collier, the leader of said crew. I can't tell much more without spoiling, but I suggest anyone to watch it. Obviously not for six year olds, but parents can decide whether or not to allow their children to watch this.

(Spoiler Alerts)
I loved how each crewmember interacted with each other. It really gave off that feeling of family-away-from-home. After spending so many years fighting together, you're bound to get some partnership/familiarity, but I haven't yet seen a movie that did it as well as this one. You can really sense what's going on between them, and in their thoughts: heck, even the tension between newbie Norman 'Machine' Ellison (played by Logan Lerman) and the other members is obvious within the first few minutes of his arrival.

Not only was the dialogue and interactions between characters fantastic, the scenes themselves really hit home how war works. Few movies are able to capture both sides of war. I'm not just talking about how you have the obvious war heroes sacrificing themselves for their country against the evil enemy warlords: I'm talking about seeing the war heroes from the enemy's point of view. They explored the characters not only as the protagonists, but also as the antagonists. A scene that I found exceptionally amazing was when Pitt's character directly manhandled and forced Lerman's character into killing a German soldier. You can really tell how badly this affects Lerman, and goes against almost all his morals. But the reasoning behind Pitt's actions is sound: in war, there is no right or wrong. There is simply kill or be killed. Really, really interesting to see these two characters grow alongside each other throughout the movie.

An overall amazing movie, and I recommend it to anyone, for almost any type of day or mood (unless you're looking for something happy-go-lucky. I don't know of any war movie that's so carefree.)

I'm Making A Come-Back

I've neglected my blogs for too long! It's about time I started posting again. A lot has happened, but because of it, I now have a surplus of ideas on what to dedicate these blogs to. I'm going to find a way to make sections: one will be for movie/T.V. show reviews, since I realize I spend a lot of time doing that, another will be for book reviews, because I also spend a lot of time doing that, and maybe I'll have a section dedicated to just whatever I want to write about. Be it creative, or informative, or a simple post detailing whatever happened that day. So! Be expecting to get filled up soon, my lonely little blog!

15!

I'm fiffteen now, I'm fiffteen now, I'm fiffteen noooow! Turning fiffteen is a big deal for my family. We ususualy would have what is called a 'quinceanera'. I probably spelled that wrong, especialy since the 'n' doesn't have the squiggly line on top. So! A quinceanera is a very traditional thing. It's basicaly a ceremony to present the girl to God and the community as she becomes a lady. It would be celebrated at church, one would walk inside with flats and come out in heels, something about earings and a bible, the father would have the first dance, etc. Very traditional. See, my mother and I didn't really want that, so we were just going to rent a hall, dress up all fancy, have a great time, say nice speeches, etc. Which would be awesome. And then Life stood up and said 'To hell with your birthday party!'. So we couldn't have it. But that's quite alright! Because I got to go and hangout with my friends, and we watched Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and we had Coldstone ice cream, and other-stuff-that-I-already-forgot-but-I-know-was-pretty-fun. I had a great time. So...Basicaly, this post isn't only about me turning fiffteen  (though that's a big part of it). The very deep-deep-super-deeper meaning would be to count your blessings, and enjoy life as much as you can. Plans don't always work out. Learn to live and make the best of it :). Yes, that's the moral of the day!
